The Last Full Weekend Each September

2008

Small A Projects, Portland, OR

This piece is inspired by the Durham Fair in Connecticut, a large annual agricultural fair held near my hometown. In 1996, I competed in the Crafts division by entering all 73 possible categories. My entries were installed during the Fair and were judged as to their value, creativity, skill, and general fulfillment of each category—then later exhibited with their ribbons as shown. In 2006, I made a 10th Anniversary version of the project, again entering all of the categories (there are now 69). Both the 1996 and 2006 versions comprise the exhibition "The Last Full Weekend Each September"
